Pre-season Tournament @ Francis Parker THIS SATURDAY!

The La Costa Canyon MavBots are competing in a robotics tournament this Saturday, October 17th at Francis Parker School.

Francis Parker School
6501 Linda Vista Road
San Diego, CA 92111

This pre-season tournament is run almost exactly like the San Diego Regional tournament. It’s a great time to meet other teams, learn how tournaments work, learn to drive the robot, and watch some amazing robots in action.

TEAM: Meet at LCC at 6 am. We should be back by 7 pm or earlier depending on our performance in the game.

Everyone else: It’s FREE! COME VISIT US!

The tournament runs 9 am – 5 pm

Thank you to FRC Team 2102 “Team Paradox” from San Dieguito Academy!

Hello Team Paradox! Yeah, we’re talking to you!

Our rookie year has been possible in large part due to your mentoring and hospitality. The La Costa Canyon Robotics Team appreciates your guidance and patience as we learn to navigate your machine shop and the bigger world of FIRST Robotics Competition.

With Kickoff this Saturday, we’re excited to have your support in our rookie year! GO TEAM PARADOX!

Chassis update

Our pre-season chassis is coming along just in time to get started on our official 2015 robotics season chassis. Check out our progress…

We are waiting on wheels and motor controllers which should arrive this week, but the chassis itself is solid and precise. Excellent work by the entire team!

Next meeting: Wednesday, October 8 @ Lunch

Our next team meeting is on Wednesday at Lunch in Mrs. Thile’s room.

Here are a few items we’ll cover:

  1. Update on the status of our NASA rookie team grant request
  2. Find a time to meet after school at SDA with their robotics team leaders, mentors and teacher/advisor to plan how we will work together this season
  3. Divide up list of potential sponsors and write letters requesting funding
  4. Having parents fill out required forms from US FIRST to allow you to be an FRC team member

See you there!

p.s. here’s another YouTube video to inspire you. Dave Lavery is the Program Executive for Solar System Exploration at NASA Headquarters. Dave talks about how the FIRST Program relates to the real world.
